WHY NOUVEL ÉDITION
What Defines the House
01 — Independent by choice
We value the freedom to publish with intention, follow strong ideas and make decisions based on the work itself.
02 — Quality over quantity
We publish a limited number of titles each year — each one carefully edited, designed, and produced to the highest standard.
03 — Timeless approach
We look beyond trends to create books that remain relevant, beautiful, and meaningful for years to come.
04 — Global outlook
With offices in Paris and Sydney, we bridge perspectives and bring powerful stories to a global audience.
05 — EDITORIAL INTEGRITY
Every decision begins with the work — guided by strong writing, clear ideas and a commitment to publishing with purpose.

THE HOUSE
Our Publishing Process
01 — SELECTION
We review manuscripts and proposals based on the strength of the writing, originality of the idea and alignment with the Nouvel Édition list.
02 — development
Selected projects are developed collaboratively with the author, establishing structure, positioning and editorial direction.
03 — editing
The manuscript moves through structural and copy editing to refine the work while retaining the author’s individual voice.
04 — design & production
The book’s visual identity, typography, format and production details are developed alongside the final manuscript.
05 — PUBLICATION
Each title is prepared for release across relevant print and digital formats, supported by editorial, distribution and communications planning.
THE MARKETING & AUDIENCE DIVISION
A book needs more than a publication date.
For titles published by the house, marketing is part of the publishing plan — not a checklist handed to the author at the end.
Each campaign is shaped around the book, its reader, its territory and the realistic opportunities available to it.
01
Positioning & discoverability
Reader positioning, metadata, categories, book descriptions, author positioning and search discoverability.
02
Launch & creative
Campaign planning, launch assets, author platforms, social content, email and the materials a title needs to enter the world coherently.
03
Press, trade & partnerships
Media materials, review-copy strategy, bookseller communication, partnerships and relevant outreach where the title is a genuine fit.
04
Long-tail audience building
Post-launch content, paid media where appropriate, discoverability work and campaigns designed to give the book a life beyond release week.
The scope of marketing varies by title, territory and agreed budget. We do not promise bestseller rankings, automatic media coverage or guaranteed bookstore placement.

How to work with us
Everything you need to know before sending us your work — including what we publish, what we look for, submission periods and how to submit.
Use the sections across for a quick overview, or read our complete guidelines before preparing your submission.
What we publish
Nouvel Édition publishes a selective list across literature, creative non-fiction, essays, culture and visually led editorial projects.
We are interested in work with a distinct voice, a clear point of view and something meaningful to contribute. Our list is deliberately focused, allowing us to give each title close editorial attention and a considered approach to design and production.
We welcome work from both emerging and established writers.
What we look for
We look for manuscripts that feel confident in their purpose and distinctive in their execution.
Strong writing matters, but so does perspective. We are drawn to work that feels original, culturally relevant, emotionally intelligent or capable of making the reader see a familiar subject differently.
We are particularly interested in: Literary fiction, Creative non-fiction and memoir, Essays and cultural criticism, Writing on art, design, travel and contemporary life, Selected visual and interdisciplinary publishing projects.
Above all, we look for work with a clear reason to exist.
Submission periods
Nouvel Édition accepts unsolicited submissions during selected submission periods throughout the year.
Opening and closing dates will be published on this page and announced through our newsletter and social channels.
Outside these periods, submissions may be temporarily closed so our editorial team can give existing manuscripts the attention they require.
We recommend joining Nouvel Édition Correspondence to be notified when the next submission period opens.
How to submit
When submissions are open, please send:
A short introduction
Tell us about yourself and the project in a few paragraphs.
A synopsis or proposal
Provide a clear overview of the work, its central idea and intended readership.
Your manuscript or sample
For completed manuscripts, please submit the full work where requested. For projects still in development, include a representative sample together with an outline of the proposed book.
A short author biography
Include any relevant writing, professional or publishing experience. Previous publication is not required.
Please follow the submission instructions provided during each open period. We ask that manuscripts are submitted digitally and formatted clearly for editorial review.
Due to the volume of submissions we may receive, we are unable to provide detailed individual feedback on every manuscript.
THE HOUSE
The House in Three Chapters
01
Editorial
Every Nouvel Édition title begins with the strength of the manuscript. We look for clear voices, original perspectives and ideas that warrant deeper attention. From initial development through to final copy, each title receives close editorial consideration.
Inside this chapter
Close editing is not about flattening a voice. It is about finding the clearest, strongest version of what the work is trying to become.
02
Design
We approach design as part of the publishing process rather than an afterthought. The aim is simple: to create editions that are clear, distinctive and appropriate to the ideas they contain. Good design should support the reading experience.
Inside this chapter
The physical edition matters: paper, scale, binding, image, rhythm and restraint all contribute to how the reader encounters the work.
03
Paris — Sydney Perspective
Paris brings a long literary and editorial tradition. Sydney brings a contemporary, outward-looking perspective from the Asia-Pacific. Operating between both allows the house to publish with an international outlook.
Inside this chapter
Our outlook is deliberately international: interested in what crosses borders, what remains specific, and what feels newly legible when placed in another context.
